Meditation

A path to profound peace, bliss, and happiness through the Inner Light and Sound

The Practice of Meditation

Whether you call it contemplation or prayer with attention, every spiritual tradition recommends some form of meditation to help achieve a peaceful, fulfilling life. Through meditation, we experience a profound peace, bliss, and happiness unlike any we can find in this world.

Jyoti & Shabd Meditation

His Holiness Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj teaches two forms of meditation: Jyoti and Shabd meditation.

Jyoti meditation is a technique that focuses on the Inner Light.

Shabd meditation is a higher-level technique taught at the time of initiation, which focuses on the Inner Light and Sound.

References to the divine Light and Sound of God are found in every religion. This power has also been called Naam, Shabd, the Holy Word, Sonorous Light, Voice of Silence, and other terms in various religions and languages.

Inner Light

Jyoti meditation focuses our attention on the divine Light within, bringing profound inner peace.

Inner Sound

Shabd meditation connects us with the divine Sound Current — the creative power sustaining all creation.

Focusing Our Attention

All day long our attention, the outer expression of our soul, is going out into the world through our five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

Through Jyoti and Shabd meditation, we withdraw our attention from the outer world and focus it at the seat of the soul, the third eye, located between and behind the two eyebrows.

As we learn the art of Jyoti and Shabd meditation, we can collect our attention at the third eye and come in contact with the Light and Sound of God which is within each and every one of us. Through this divine connection, we can embark on the inner spiritual journey.

The beauty of meditation is that the joy found when we focus within remains with us even after we resume our daily activities.

Do I Need a Meditation Teacher?

As with any new subject or skill in life, mastery requires learning from an adept who has themselves mastered the subject. Though the theory of meditation can be gleaned from a book, meditation is a practical experience, and the novice meditator will have many questions.

Progress and success in this practice require a teacher — an adept who has already achieved the goal of meditation, can guide us through the process and show us how to perfect the technique.

Students of meditation from around the world come to Science of Spirituality to learn from world-renowned meditation Master Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, who has travelled the world for over thirty-five years teaching the technique of meditation.

All programmes and workshops organised by Science of Spirituality are free and open to all.
